After this program, you will be able to:

  • Explain how to apply U.S. gift and estate tax rules to non-U.S. citizens and describe the importance of expatriation (pre-arrival or pre-departure) planning, as well as the rules of foreign trust taxation.

  • Describe filing requirements for Forms 3520/3520-A and the need for specialist review.

  • Identify five questions to ask all clients, especially trust clients and trustees, to surface opportunities for providing international tax consulting and compliance.

Notes:  This program qualifies for 1-hour of continuing education credit for Attorneys, CPA's, Planned Giving Specialists and Professional Fiduciaries. This program is pending approval with the CFP Board of Standards, Department of Insurance, and American Bankers Association. 


About Our Speaker:

Jack Nuckolls is the national technical leader of BDO’s Private Client Services practice. He has more than 30 years of professional experience serving high-net-worth individuals, executives, closely held business owners, trusts, and estates with respect to income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax planning and compliance issues. Jack is also the U.S. representative of the BDO International Private Client Services Center of Excellence, responsible for providing tax planning advice on a world-wide basis.

Jack has conducted professional partner and manager training on a national level in the areas of estate and income tax planning and comprehensive personal financial planning. He has taught these subjects at both Tulsa University and Golden Gate University. He has done extensive public speaking at a variety of venues.
